Hi kids, Az here.
A bit of history for you:
This studio has been through many different owners over the past 30 odd years (Reuben, the current owner, has been running the place since about a year and a half ago). Around the time of 2003-2007, Party Pig (as it was formerly named) was owned by former MNIJ drummer Ryan Lambert – not that one, this one – best known to Sydney-siders for his time after MNIJ as the former drummer of Town Hall Steps.
If you’ve ever met Ryan, you’ll know that he’s quite a handsome boy and owning a rehearsal studio made him very popular with the ladies of the local scene (and I guess playing in an emo band helped too). He used to entertain quite the frequent conquest at his studio and that control room where recordings are performed was his former sex den. I have stories that I’ll take to my grave coz I ain’t no snitch. 😉
I had a chuckle walking around the place and having the memories flooding back as Reuben was showing me around and pointing out all of the remodeling he’s done to the joint.
As for the photo included, that’s an old MNIJ sticker that Ryan put on the hand towel dispenser in the men’s bathroom about 15 years ago – and it’s still there. How amusing. I didn’t dare touch it.
We went through about 5 new songs last night – our next show should be interesting. 🙂
Peace out peeps
